On Wednesday the United States Senate voted down the gun background check bill. In order for the bill to be passed 60 Senators must vote "yea" to pass this bill. The Senate voted with 54 in support of the bill and 46 against the bill. The Senate needed six more votes to hit the 60 vote requirement. This bill was authored by Senator Joe Manchin a Democrat from West Virginia, and Senator Pat Toomey a Republican from Pennsylvania. The purpose of this bill would be to expand background checks to gun shows and Internet sales, but at the same time exempting personal transactions. |
